Before the 2006 mid-term elections, Republicans controlled the Senate, the House, and the executive branch. Remember those days? Yuk. Anyways, Constituent Dynamics (a Seattle based polling outfit) and RT Strategies (a bipartisan public affairs research group) had a feeling the Dems were going to take back the House in a BIG way. They decided to poll the top 60 contested seats during the 10 weeks before the election.
Although our results were a tad more optimistic than the actual outcome, the Republicans did get their ass served.
My main task was to design and develop an interactive application to show the polling results along with demographic data in the congressional district. We wanted to make sure we provided enough data to satisfy the nerdiest of number crunchers, while making it fun for the non-political types.
